  • Drove thru paint spill...what now?

My wife's black car just had its weekly cleaning this morning and I noticed some white paint in the wheel well and the underside of the rockersill (side-skirt) on the same side. In a nutshell, what had happened is that someone had spilled white paint on the freeway and traffic congestion made this mess inevitable. Unfortunately this cannot classify as 'overspray', so claying probably wouldn't work, especially under the rockersill. Anyone have ideas of how to clean the paint from the wheelwell and rockersill?

If it's just on bare metal that doesn't have delicate painted surfaces and is out of the eye's view, could you just use paint thinner? I'm not sure if it's on the underside of your car or just near the bottom.

Ive never had a problem with just getting them off washing.. I guess different kinds of paint are different though? Maybe some Goo gone then apply a good wax?

Ive had some cement from those reflector things in my fender wheels for ever now. That stuff if crazy hard..

Paint thinner on a micro fiber rag on the rocker panels and a terry cloth rag on the wheel wells. Be sure to polish/wax the rocker panels and dress the wheel wells once you are done.

On some of the textured wheel wells the paint wont come off with paint thinner and a rag. So another possibility is flat black high heat radiator paint. Its not a true fix though...

I've used Meguiar's Medallion paint cleaner for a similar incident and it worked well for me. It was just a couple of little areas though.

go to the local body shop supply store and get a pack of plastic razor blades.
they will easily remove the spots of paint in the wells. if you try to soak the paint with hot water on a rag and it does not soften, try 3m general adhesive remover, but remember in this tree hugger era you will have to let it set before it will soften it up
                good luck!
