Motorhome paint and alloy care

I recently purchased a year 2000 40 ft. diesel motorhome. Currently it is not garaged but is stored outdoors here in the Houston area. I have solar screens on the glass and cover the wheels/tires but the paint and decals (the decals are applied with adhesive to the fiberglass and painted surfaces) are exposed to the elements.

How should I proceed to protect the paint and keep the alloy wheels maintained? Also, what is the best dressing to use on those huge tires ($350.00 each X 6)?

The best way to protect the finish on your Motorhome is the same as it is for a car, truck or s.u.v., and that is to develop a maintenance plan for taking care of the exterior and then stick to it. In your case, you want to evaluate the condition of the finish and determine if it needs to be clayed and cleaned and if so then after washing, clay and clean the finish using either a dedicated cleaner or a cleaner/wax.

Cleaner/waxes are popular for large items like a Motorhome because there's so much surface are it's nice to find an effective product that does everything in one step.

As for your graphics, test your wax of choice by applying a little to the graphic and see if it,

• Makes it look better
• No change in appearance
• Or makes it look worse

As long as it's making the graphic look better, continue applying it as some attention is better than no attention and some protection is better than no protection.

Also, what is the best dressing to use on those huge tires ($350.00 each X 6) ?

That takes care of the paint and rubber. What about the alloy wheels? I need a good metal polish. I use an electric drill with a large polishing buff. The materials are aluminum alloy and polished stainless steel (dress up kit).

Thank you for the recommendations. As soon as I get the coach under cover, I'll put up scaffolding and clean and polish the paint as well as polish the wheels.
