I believe the Consumer (A12) Cleaner/Wax is much milder of a cleaner.

If you are comparing cleaner/waxes, dont forget ColorX and #66.

well Im just doing this between the 2 because they do the same thing and have the same name and who prefers what. Sorry if this has been covered before, so this is only between #6 adn the consumer brand sorry I didnt clarify that.

A-12 is mostly a chemical cleaner, very mild, not really going ot remove many defects, swirls,etc. Also, it is mainly meant for use by hand. Similar to DC#1, with polish and wax added in.

#6 is stronger in that it has more diminishing abasives, and can remove swirls/defects, and of couse it is meant for use by machine.

but 36 can still be used by hand right? but u will not be able to achieve the full effect tho.. am I right? this is wierd cause this post is turning into something else sorry for this, but thers one thing why is that I always get swirls when I go by hand, yes Im getting off, but I see the flawless finished achieved by DA's and yet I could prolly use the same product and get swirls, again Ill post my technique:

wash with GC
dry with water magnet
clay if needed

and then followed by a wax

I use Megs foam applicators, and Supreme Shine Microfiber towels, after I use them I will clean them adn put them away until needed again, I cant figure out whats going wrong, or is it impossible to achieve that flawless look with hand?

Yes #6 cleaner wax can be used by hand.

#7 is a pure polish and will not remove swirls. A wax like cleaner wax is not going to remove swirls either unless they are extremely light.

To remove swirls by hand you need a paint cleaner like ScratchX. Depending on how deep these swirls are and how hard your paint is, this may not be an easy task. It may require multiple applications, working the product in really well with a good amount of effort on one small section at a time. You may even want to try applying ScratchX with a terry towel in order to get some more bite to remove the swirls. Working by hand you are limited to what you can do, but you can achieve good results by hand, it just takes a lot more effort than it would by machine.

Too clarify,

Both proudcts contain diminishing abrasives and chemical cleaners, both can be applied by hand and machine, of the two, M06 Cleaner/Wax is stronger than A12 Cleaner/Wax.

thanks guys for responding so quickly, I know that scratchX needs a lot of lovin in order to remove swirls, I guess I have been using the product improperly, seeing no real results, The main thing is that this vehicle (2004 Ford Ranger) is gonna have to last for a good while I just dont want to chew through the paint before I sell it. I know that by using scratch X it will take years to go through the paint, right now Im just a little worried, I mean my truck looks awesome like 1 foot away even in the sun, but its when ur right on top of the paint with the sun shinning u can see the swirls adn it drives me crazy

I prefer M06 over A12 because of its added flexibility. It’s stronger so you can do more cleaning, faster. Or, if you don’t need more cleaning, you just apply it lightly. You can also use it by hand, orbital, DA or rotary with foam or wool pads.

#6 is a great product, and was even back in the 80s when I used it. I have so many different Meguiars LSP (gotta try everything you know!) I forgot that I have some of the #6 too! It has good cleaning power and very good durability.

Is continual use in the long run ok?
(If used every week, will I be removing a significant level of clear coat?)

A12 quite mild, it is fine to use all the time.

Like Murr1525 posted, it's really gentle, there's no fear in using it as often as you like and in fact it's a great maintenance wax for a daily driver always parked outside.

I know im dating myself with this old school combo,2 step wool/#3and yellow foam and #6 man those wre the good ole days
