Meguiar's doesn't recommend using the Dual Action Polisher for cutting with a wool pad, a foam cutting pad. The problem is the oscillating action while it may remove below surface defects, it will also leave the finish looking scoured and most people panic when they see this and most people don't have the skills or experience to recover from this scouring using only the dual action polisher.
It is true, Meguiar's offers a large backing plate for the dual action polisher but in reality the tool doesn't have the power to be effective with any pad size over about 6"
So a larger pad can be placed on the larger backing plate but in all honesty there's not much you can do with it.
