  • Scratch Removal from car wash

I just purchased an 87 MB 560 SL. Overall in very good condition. The passenger side has scratch marks that are horizontal which I assume are from a car wash. I have always been a hand buffer so I tried ScratchX 3-4 times followed with Gold Class. This was partially successful. Any recommendation? I've read some about #80 and #83 with a PC. Is it time for me to get a machine buffer? I am really lost regarding pads. Is there a good starting kit out there?
    Thanks

Re: Scratch Removal from car wash

The newer MB's have some really hard paint, and the 80's models may as well. That would explain why ScratchX is working very slowly for you.

Getting a PC is up to you, obviously working by hand will get the results, but it is going to take a long time and lots of effort.

If you really want to order something good, get the How-To Get a Show Car Shine with a PC DVD from Mike Philips and Richard Lin. Great info all the way through it, including on using ScratchX.
