  • 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 - Care and Feeding...???

Picking up a new black 2007 Charger on Thursday and I'm not quite sure on what I should do to a brand new car as far as polish/wax/protectant. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! THANKS!

First Thing I Would Do Is Make Sure The Finish Is Perfect From The Dealer, No Swirls, No Mars On The Paint, Look At In The Sun From All Angles,, Everyone Else Can Tell You How To Protect The Finish

Congrats on the new ride! Oh, and black too!!!! There still is nothing that shines like a black car, period!

You will probably need to clay it! My last 4 new cars had rail dust on them. The dealer new car detailing people are clueless when it comes to rail dust removal, but it's just as well. I don't want any newbie taking a rotary buffer to my new car!

If you have the DISO (dealer-installed swirl option) #80 by PC will usually take care of it. I would top that with #21 and then top the #21 with NXT Paste!

Your paint is already cured since it is coming from the factory so you can wax as soon as the surface is prepped with cleaner/polish.

Of course you will post pictures as soon as possible? And welcome to the 400HP club!

Charger SRT8s are hard to come by around these parts. Did you have to order yours? BTW, black is the best color for the Charger IMHO!

Got to run a SRT8 Charger on the track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Very tight car and great brakes. You will love it!

What do you guys think of using a Swiffer to clean up the brake dust in between washings? This beast has ALOT of brake dust!

I would use a QD instead. Go with NXT Speed Detailer and when it becomes available, the new Wheel Detailer. Take a few microfiber cloths and dedicate them to use on wheels. If your going to QD your wheels, you will need to do it every day or every other day at least, until it either rains or your next wash. Using a good polymer sealant like #20 or #21 will make the brake dust come off easier when you wash your wheels and may help to reduce the buildup too. I have noticed a big difference after putting #21 on my clearcoated wheels.
