  • Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner> #82 Light polish

After using #82 polish with a DA polisher, my cars clear looked perfect in the sun, but you could see a few light scratches when I put my halogen light along the side of it. After I tried the paint cleaner, they were completely gone. Does anyone know if the paint cleaner is good to use after a DACP because it is a very light cleaner and will give perfect results or did it just work for me?

Here is what you should do for the best results:

    1. Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
    2. #82
    3. Wax of your choice

    -or-

    You also listed DACP (#83)
    1. Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
    2. #83
    3. Wax of your choice

Does that help, or did I misunderstand the question?

Thanks for the advice. I was just wondering if anyone else had discovered that using the paint cleaner after the light polish would make for a better final step finsh like it worked out for me. Maybe this isn't possible because paint cleaner even have abrasives?

DC1 (paintcleaner) has trace amounts of abrasives. When used with a PC and a 8006 pad (which provides some bite) you might get a very mild cutting action.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that #82 left some marring behind that DC1 cleaned up? The only logical explaination I can come up with is that your paint is very soft, and the larger abrasives in #82 left some micromarring on the surface. DC1 cleaned up the marring because of its less agressive nature. However, DC1 also removed the polishing oils from #82, so you might want to apply a pure polish to the surface before going to your LSP.

        I hope I helped

Re: Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner> #82 Light polish

FWIW, people have complained that they couldn't get a marr free finish on the soft paint of Infinti's G35 series coupes and sedans. Even the mild acton of #82 would leave behind rainbowing in the paint.

I had sucess on the G35 I did by finishing with DC1 and a 9006 finishing pad. It left the surface perfectly clean, and I followed with #81 polish. So thats where I got my thought process.
