  • A few ?'s about interior

I finally got around to vacuuming out my interior a few days ago (it's needed it for 2 months at least), and since it's nice and clean now, the oil stains on the carpet (from the previous owner) are really bothering me. I was thinking I should try APC+ on them, but I wasn't sure what dilution ratio to use. I have a carpet steam cleaner that I was thinking about using; would it be OK to use APC+ in the steam cleaner? I was planning on cleaning all of the interior upholstery, so I was thinking I might need to put a stronger dilution APC+ into a spray bottle and spray it on the oil spots, let it soak, then go over it with the steam cleaner. Do y'all think that would work? I'm just worried I might somehow "bleach out" my carpet. It is light grey, if that makes any difference.

Also, there is some white latex paint on the light grey vinyl interior. I've tried PlastiX and Goof-OFF on it but neither of them worked. Do any of y'all know of anything else that might work?

I have one more question but it doesn't really have anything to do with interiors. I want to store a bottle of QD and QID inside my truck. I doubt the temperatures inside my truck would ever get below freezing, but I'm sure it would get pretty hot in there. Would extreme temperatures mess up either QID or QD?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Well, I haven't used APC+ on my auto carpet (only the mats) but have had great results using it with a steam vac on my house interior carpet. While it's supposed to be formulated to work in a carpet machine, I had good results spraying it on a carpet section and then just using the hot water extraction of the machine.

10 to 1 is pretty mild....almost Windex mild. 7 to 1 worked OK on the carpet areas that were'nt badly soiled and 4 to 1 was the best on carpet areas that had some stains. I found no problems with color fading or bleaching using 4 to 1 on either my home carpet or my auto floor (carpeted) mats. Just follow the directions on the bottle (let it sit after spraying then take it off before it has any chance to dry) and you'll be impressed.

The stuff works good for cleaning gunky brass on a fireplace secreen... if you ever come across a car with a fireplace.

I thought latex paint always came off with warm soapy water. Maybe not if it's too old.

As for the APC+ on carpet, I've used APC 10:1 and it didn't bleach the carpet. I worked it in good with a brush. But it did make a clean spot, so then I had to clean the rest of the carpet just as good. Like Mort said, I've heard that it works good to spray it on then use the hot water extraction of the machine.

Good luck, hope it works out for you.

I've used APC diluted 10:1 on the carpeting in my car and it works great. I spray it on and work it in with a brush, then use the Bissell Little Green Machine with clear water to rinse and extract.

When I bought my '99 Miata two years ago there was a red stain on the passenger side floor matt. I tried a couple of different products to remove it, but nothing worked. APC got rid of it on the first try. I have no idea what the stain was, but it's gone now and hasn't come back.

Thanks for the advice y'all! First I tried using the APC+ in the machine, just like I would any other chemical but for some reason the sprayer on the machine wasn't working. I thought maybe APC+ was too foamy for the machine to deal with (it was working a little bit at first but then it quit), so I sprayed APC+ diluted 10 to 1 on all of the carpet I wanted to clean, and sprayed it diluted 4 to 1 on the oil spots, then scrubbed with a brushon all the carpet I wanted to clean. I tried to use the carpet cleaner to get the APC+ out but I guess it must have gotten plugged up because it wouldn't spray water at all. So I just used the vacuum part of it to get the APC+ out. Despite the machine messing up, the carpet looks much better. All the oil spots are gone, and it smells nice too. APC+ is awesome stuff!!
