Have you tried to use any products to correct this?

Also is this trim painted or is it a "raw" type plastic?

Have you placed oversized tires? It looks to me that your tires are splashing the fender

Try MEG'S # 39 or #40 vinyl/rubber cleaner-conditioner. Then MEG'S #38 if you can get it because it may be discontinued, if so, get MEG'S exterior trim detailer. You've got a little bit of work ahead of you but it'll be worth it.

Since it's painted, then I would say it's oxidized paint. You can use some ColorX by hand and see if that works.

Re: dodgy condition on the wheel arch bumpers

It would be odd to see clear-coat failure so soon, so I cant see that being it.

Since they are painted, you can use the rgular paint care product. ColorX as mentioned or ScratchX would be good choices.. just work them in really well. I might pick ScratchX. But if it is some embedded dirt, or maybe actual oxidation, those should get it off. If they dont, it would seem like soemthing is happening with the actual paint.

So I should just use scratchX? thanks for the help will give it ago. If that dosnt work will it likely be clear coat failure and I will have to get the arches resprayed?

Re: dodgy condition on the wheel arch bumpers

Well, lets see.. other questiones that come to mind..

Is it just one arch, or all of them?
I assume you havent tried anything on it yet?
Have you cleaned/waxed the car previously?
And the marks just appeared overnight, or slowly got worse?
Does it feel smooth, like it isnt something stuck on the paint?

I would try ScratchX, since it is pretty much the strongest cleaner by hand. That should remove any oxidation and dirt. If after that, you are left with that kind of greyish finish, I would suspect failure.

Do a search for clearcoat failure, and you will see some other peoples pics for comparison.

Here are some links for how to use ScratchX properly. Basicaly, work it in very well, until it goes from a white cream to a clear oily film. Then wipe off. Work in about a 10 inch strip at a time along the arch.

Re: dodgy condition on the wheel arch bumpers

cheers... yeh its smooth dosnt feel rough, i think one of the other arches has it very slightly.
I have not had the car 2 long and a couple weeks in2 haveing it i noticed it, not sure if its been getting worse. i have used a cheap wash and wax shampoo on it about 4 times, have now purchased some meguiars shampoo and wax but not used them yet.

should i still give scratch X ago even though it is smooth?
