I was messing around on Ebay and looked up car wax. I saw someone selling carnauba wax flakes that can be melted down to car wax or for wood working protection etc. Would pure wax be a good protectant over Meguiars products?

Re: Carnauba wax Flakes
I'm only asking. That's all. Nothing aganist Meguiars products. Meguiar is the only product I use. If everyone on this forum is looking for a great shine and protectant. I don't see a problem asking this question. Thought maybe it could be added to a step or something along that line.

Re: Carnauba wax Flakes
Buying wax flakes and melting them down seems like a lot more trouble than buying a can of wax. Plus, that can of wax you buy has been formulated by a chemist with a host of other ingredients along with those wax flakes.
But it could be a fun project. You probably want a double boiler to melt it in. You'll need some sort of solvent to add in otherwise when the wax re-solidifies it will just be a rock that you will only be able to scrape flakes off of rather than in a form you could put on your car. (of course you could just try pouring the molten wax on the car)
Most car waxes are blends of multiple waxes, including carnauba, beeswax...um, and some other ones I can't think of right now. Usually also some polymers (silicones).
Anyway, have fun!

If you want to try them out, maybe consider trying them on a 'junker' type car or panel, first. You know.....test it on something else in case it's a disaster. But....I still don't see why you'd want to, sorry. It just sounds like a really bad idea to me.
