  • Velcro backing pads

I just started having a problem with my backing pad (P/C from Coastal Tool). I used to be able to 'spin dry' my pads after washing them, and now there isn't enough "grip" in the velcro to hold a pad on, even at "1."

I started noticing it a few weeks ago when I was polishing my car and the pads kept coming loose. I tried nearly evey pad I had tonight, and none of them stuck for more than a few seconds...you can even feel the loss of grip just putting them on and taking them off again.

I have a hard time believing ALL my pads went bad at the same time, so it must be the backing pad. Has anyone else had a backing pad 'fail' like this before??

how do you clean your pads? If you are soaking them in the wash the velcro pads may be coming of the pad.

If it is the backing plate, then just buy a new one, they are pretty cheap and need to be replaced every so often.

Try a new pad if it sticks the backing plate then you know it's the pads and not the plate.
Products are only a good as the detailer using them.
