  • Detailing Brand New Car - Which polish to use?

I just brought home our new '07 Honda Accord - "cool blue metallic", which is a bluish grey. It seems to change color depending on the light. I'm going to detail it this weekend, but I'm not sure which polish to use after I clay. I've looked over the surface and haven't noticed any scratches at all. Wiping my hand along the surface, it feels quite rough, but I'm sure claying will take care of that. But for the next step, I'm just not sure.

    Here's what I have: #9, #80, #83, DC1
    Here's the pure polishes I have: #7, DC2

I was going to use #80, but since there are no visible scratches, should I maybe use #9 or DC1 followed by #7 or DC2?

After polishing I was going to use either NXT and #21 or 2 coats of #21 or #21 and #26, I haven't decided.

Are you working by hand or machine?

By hand, DC#1 would be better, followed by #7 and #21.

By PC, #80 or #9 would be good, then #7 would be optional, then #21.

Since 80 has similar oils as 7, I would just go 80 via PC then your favorite LSP.

As Murr said, you can throw 7 in the mix after 80, but with this color, it may not be noticiable. The best is to test a section with 7 after your done and see if it improves it.
