What is the strongest and safest product to use under the hood? I want something strong enough to clean but not harm rubber parts or discolor plastic. Also, is the some thing that I can coat the engine with that will give it a nice shine but not be too greasy and make my serpentine belts slip. If slippage will even be a problem. Thanks.

Re: Engine Cleaning
Safe De-Greaser is a great product to use to clean, and Hyper-Dressing can be used for dressing the plastic, etc. It is dilutable, so you can get the level of shine you like. Dont dress the belts.
Give a look in the Engine Detailing forum on here, I think there is one or two write-ups there.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Engine Cleaning
I have a feeling ASD in liquid/vapor form would be flammable, but once it has dried it is fine. I have certainly used it on several cars, and so have others, without our cars exploding. But a little confirmation sure would be nice.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Engine Cleaning
Thats cool that is flammable and all, I dont plan on shining the headers up though. Combustion only takes place inside the block, so I should be fine. Ill only use it on the plastics under the hood.Current Jeep: 2004 Jeep Liberty with stuff

I am use to using INSANE amounts of tire foam under the hood of my car, and I've never had a problem with those. But then maybe they aren't flammable...2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V Turbo

Re: Engine Cleaning
I used All Purpose Cleaner Plus, diluted 1:4 for cleaning my engine, then dressed it with #40 and I think it turned out very well.Lydia's Mobile Detailing
