  • Cleaning Brushes help!!

Cleaned my wheels and tires today, used NXT Tire Shine, and Hot Rims...came out great. My brushes, however, did not. The face brush isnt too bad, little stained, but the tire brush is covered in black stuff. I tried soaking these in a bucket of Dawn and hot water but they won't get any cleaner. Any suggestions?

That's odd. I have the same brushes and they rinse fairly clean with just water form the hose. However I only use soap and water when using my wheel face brush. When cleaning my tires with the tire brush, I use All Purpose Cleaner. Maybe that is the difference. You could try some All Purpose Cleaner and see if that would clean them up any better.

My tire brush looks the same, I have not had any luck cleaning it. I can get the black to lighten up with some APC+ but it stays rather black, but... the brush still performs very well!

The tire bush is the only one I have trouble cleaning, I would guess it has to do with the tire/tire dressing combo.

Mine are as clean as the day I bought them.. Sometimes if I wash the tires when they still have tire shine on them, the tire brush gets tire shine all over it but comes right off when I spray them off. If it doesnt then I just spray alittle Wesley's bleach white on them and it comes off.

I used the small body brush to do my wheels.

          It is now stained.

It worked very well though. I needed something to reach into the caliper area.

            Re: Cleaning Brushes help!!

I'm thinking it's mostly from the tire shine staying on the brush.

What do you guys use to get tire shine off? I've tried NXT tire cleaner on my tires to clean them, but the foam just disolves away and doesn't break down the tire dressing. I've tried several applications, as well as NXT wash, but nothing seems to get rid of it except time.

What's the APC everyone talks about? Will that concentrated help at all?

Like Ive already said, Wesley's bleach white does a great job.. That means it cleans the brushes off.

                Re: Cleaning Brushes help!!

For the rims I use the multi piece wheel wash and wheel face brush, and for tires I either use the tire brush with nxt tire cleaner or APC+. My trick is I spray the wheel face brush or tire brush before use so they're wet (junk won't stick to them as easy than it they were dry). and I rinse them after each tire / rim I clean. Mine have come out good as new and the tire brush has a little bit of black staining here and there but not much.

Mine looked like that when I used just a carwash on the tires. Now I use an APC type product in the washwater and it seems to clean the brush also, looks like new after everytime I use it.

just a suggestion. maybe you can use the super degreaser. i heard it eats the dirt away (basically remove them well) so i suppose it can clean up the oil left by the tire shine. just a thought. . .
