  • Wait til you here this

So I took my truck to the dealer for some servicing and picked it up in 2 days. They changed the oil and stuff too. After it sat for 2 days in the sun I realized they got oil on the hood and it baked in. Yes oil. It was rainbow colored like when it mixes in water. I see this at home and take some surface prep solvent and try it nothing. I didnt want to go abrasive yet because my truck was filthy to begin with so I go back to the dealer and tell them to take a look at what they.Talking with service dept about it and the body shop guy takes some 84 on a rag and just wiped away. Marred a 6 in x 6 in area horribly.

I dont want a repaint because you can rarely achieve a factory finish ever again, but man you would think being in the body shop business you would know better, especially on black.

I've been there when taking delivery of a brand new unit! I pity you having owned many black units simultaneously & knowing what it takes to get it & keep it right.Kool down & evaluate the damage then use your knowledge & skill to correct it. Document it w/pix & request a sit down w/the zone rep if the dlr. won't compensate you for your work. You can do it! Good Luck!

Use the least agressive product to get the job done. Point in case.

That said, if #84 put the damage into the hood by hand then #84 with necessary tools and pads should remove the damage. The damage is most likely caused by dirt being ground into the paint and/or the diminishing abrassives not being broken down.

If you have pictures then I'm certain others can begin to formulate a solution and this time make note of Meguiar's motto to paint defect removal.

It's so crazy that people in the industry know so little about their craft.

I will be able to fix it. They look equivalent to running your hand down the side of a dirty car. Gotta love when my kids close the door by pushing on the door instead of the handle. Love them to death though.

If I felt the damage was that bad I wold have asked for something for compensation but I dont want anybody working on my car other than me.

And even crazier is that most of the time those are the people making the most money!!! It doesn't make sense to me - there are SO MANY good detailers out there, and the fools seemingly end up with the majority of the business.
