What are the pros and cons of using a brush instead of a mit to wash your car?

    Re: Car Washing Brushes

If you use a high quality brush, not much, it wont leave any marks, and can be very handy for big vehicles, esp roofs. Or older folks who dont want to bend down.

Just like a mit/sponge, if you get a cheapo one, they will leave swirls.

Other than that, it is just personal preferance.

Bump - this is a good question - I have a Meg. brush and if it the wrong thing to use, I want to know.

Thanks to the responders in advance.

How do you know the difference between one that is high quality and one that is not

If you are in a store, feel the end of the Meguiars Body Brush, and compare that to the other companies. You'll feel the difference.

The Meguiars Tire Brush is softer that most other companies body brushes.

Meguiar's are high quality, others are not! No really, If you feel the brush it's pretty easy to tell. The Meguiar's line is super soft, where as other ones feel harsh. I've use brushs in the past with bad results. Not to long ago I was at the local auto store and saw a Meguiar's Body Brush, I felt the bristles and was shocked how soft it was. Got one, and haven't had any problems yet. Works great. Seems like the brush does a better job at getting bugs and such off too. Also without the brush I have to use a step ladder to get all of my roof, with the added reach of the brush it's no problem.

                THANKS!

This is good to know since I snagged 2 of them at "Big Lots" for less than $10 each.
