    Re: the blue tape

Its 3M Blue Painters Tape... you can get it at any home improvement store. Its a tape that is designed to remove easy and leave no residue. Do not get the cheap tape you will regret it, get name brand (3M Blue Painters Tape) it is more expensive but its worth it!

Some use the green tape its 'automotive' but I prefer the blue.

The 3M green tape is not necessarily just automotive; it is to be used on hard to stick places. The cost of it is about the same as the blue but has more sticking power to rubber molding, abs plastics, moldings, etc. It does however have a shorter release time (3 days) vs. 7 days on the blue. I've found that it works better when using a PC/DA because it doesn't peel back nearly as bad as the the blue when the foam pads runs against it.

It just depends on what your trying to tape over. The Blue should work in most applications when detailing by hand, but there may be instances where the blue just won't stick to certain places. Especially those places that might have been sprayed with a siclicone base product recently such as ArmourAll. Before you start detailing, just get a roll of both and then rest easy knowing your ready for whatever comes up.
