My daughter's truck has a paint job by one of those chain paint shops. Today I did the 5 step routine wash, clay, paint cleaner, polish and wax. Tried it by hand and then with a power polisher no difference.Even used Scratch X. Any advice? Should I do like the old days and use rubbing compound and then wax? By the way all products were Meguiar's. Used the Quick Clay kit on my 96 Ford F150 really worked well. Still cant get rid of the love bug stains, white paint.

Resorting to an old-fashioned compound might remove the defects but it will leave scratches everywhere, so that's the wrong solution.
How old is the paint job? Is it a clear coat finish or single stage?
ScratchX works great but it does require the right technique and often times when people say it's not working its not the product, it's their technique.
It also could be the defects are so bad that the only way to fix them is to use a machine applied product from our Professional Line.
TH0001 replied to this thread and his work is always breathtaking, if he's in your area you should try to hook up with him, he can either offer to detail the car for you or show you if it can be fixed or not and if it can what it will take. Don't forget to tip him
