  • DC # 1 before #21

Ok I recieved my 21 and # 62 wash and a few other Meguiars items.

So when i use DC #1 do I need to rewash to get the residue off to get a good bond with the 21 or can I go straight to the # 21.

    regards mongo

You won't need to rewash your car after using DC1. DC1 is just like a wax that you put on, let dry and then wipe off. If you have a pure polish like DC2 or #7, I would put that on next. After doing the polish and wiping it off, I would got with #21. I would only rewash if you have to stop working on your car for a period of time. There might be dust, small debris or other things that will affect the polish and LSP. Of course, I usually can use some QD and a MF towel to remove the dust and stuff and start where I left off from the other day.

I agree with rascal... Wash > DC#1 > #21 and add a polish for some extra pop!

...But if it were me, I would not let DC#1 dry, I would remove damp. It can become hard to remove once dry. Work the product in a small area (2X2) then remove. Be sure to use a QUALITY cotton or microfiber towel to remove once applied.

DC1 is designed to apply, dry and then wipe off. I never had a problem of removing DC1 from cars that I have detailed and I was using terry and MF towels to remove it. Since DC1 has a wax in it, it needs to dry and setup like any other LSP.

          hey mongo, try this out...

          1. wash
          2. clay (if you can feel above surface contaminants)
          3. dc #1 (it's a paint cleaner so you work it in
and wipe away excess, no need to dry)
          4. #21 (or whatever lsp you desire)

Are we speaking of the same product? Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner I have never heard there was wax in this paint cleaner, I thought it was a chemical cleaner with very mild diminishing abrasives in it? Its used to remove wax/contaminates/minor swirls and so on.

You don't let DC#1 dry before removing. You wipe it on, work it into the paint and remove it before it dries. Same thing with DC#2. Only the wax (DC#3 or any Meg's wax) needs to dry before removing!!

that would be the cleaner wax (A12) which is not part of the deep crystal 3 step series, and yes you would let that dry like any other wax before removing as well as the 3rd step of this system (both have waxes in them)...

Well I could have swore the Cleaner Wax was part of the DC system. I don't have any old bottles from when I first started using it, but I do recall a Cleaner Wax bottle having "Step 1" on it.

Maybe this is the bottle. It has a "#1 Top Rated" at the top!?!?

It was a different layout on the bottle. It was before that style on the bottle. Oh well.

Meguiar's pure cleaners and pure polishes will not net you any gain if you allow them to dry.
