  • I need a little more help

OK,I think Im ready to give this a shot on my black 97 Mustang.

The paint overall is in excellent condition, the car has always been garaged, but of course with it being black there are definate swirls and some light to medium scratches.

    Heres what I have:
    PC 7424
    1-7006 pad
    1-8006 pad
    1-9006 pad
    1-Ultimate bonnet

Now heres where Im still a little confused.I think Ill use 83 than 80 than top it with 26..Is that a good start? What about pads, what pad do I use with what product?Ive been doing some reading here but I still feel unsure.I dont want any other defects because of something stupid I did .

    Thanks

The good thing with a PC is that any swirls you cause from something stupid wont be permanent.

    But to help you out:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay if needed
    3. Clean - #80 on a test spot with 8006 pad. If it is all you need, great. If not, then #83 on a second 8006 pad. Apply to car, then follow up with #80. If the car is i great condition, I doubt you will need the #83.
    4. Wax - applied with 9006 pad.

Try #80 first. #80 works wonders. If you don't get good results then try #83. Follow up with 2 thin coats of wax. Do yourself a favor and get a few more W8008 & W9006 pads. You don't want to use the same pad for #80 and #83. Good luck.

Re: I need a little more help

The cutting pad (reddish-brown) is 7006.

With a PC, the cutting pad is only used under bonnets to remove wax, if you chose to remove wax by machine.

And if you havent heard yet, order the "How-to use the PC for Show Car Results" DVD that Mike and Richard did. Excellent video. You can get it from ADS or ShowCarGarage.com.

              • 5.0 for removing defects with cleaner/polishes
              • 3.0 for applying waxes
              • 5.0 for removing dried waxes using a bonnet over a clean dry W-7006 pad
Remember, when removing swirls, you don't want to tackle to be of an area at one time. You can work large sections when applying waxes because during this step you're not trying to remove defects, (remove paint), but instead are just trying to spread a thin, even layer or coating of wax.

                Personally I would slam on a layer of #21 between the #80 & #26
