  • Quick ? for claying new car

Hey everyone, hope y'all had a great weekend. I just bought a new '07 truck 6 weeks ago. I have 4 nxt washes, 3 thin coats of nxt liquid wax, and a couple quick details under my belt so far. I have also tech protected the interior and was shocked to see the dash drink so much. It made me wonder how long the truck was sitting @ the dealership. But my guess is 2-3 mo. I've learned from this incredible board that frequent cleaning is easy cleaning so my question is... will clay be discolored @ all by 3 thin layers of wax when I clay? Should I clay yet? I would just like to see if any pre purchase contaminents bonded or not while parked in the dealer's underground bunker. I feel very small particles if anything although still very smooth. You guys have created a monster. Thx much in advance.

P.s. what is a good polish for a beautiful flaky silver paint and when should I do my 1st polish?

Claying probably wouldn't be a bad thing since you do feel some stuff on some areas. Yuo may want to save it for your next big detail and do everything (wash, clay, paint cleaner, polish, wax). As for polish I have used the Deep Crystal (DC) Step 2 with some nice results and since you're already doing so much, you might as well (or at least I would).
    AND.... to MOL.

But just to add in, not sure what you mean by clay being discolored by wax? If there is dirt, that will discolor it. And yes, claying can remove wax, so you will want to do it when you do a full detail.

#7 is a good polish also, but can take a couple uses to get the hang of.

I'm sorry.... i'll try to clarify Murr. I was just wondering if the 3 thin layers of nxt liquid that I have already applied will discolor the clay @ all during the process, or will any discoloration of the clay just be dirt contaminents. I wanted to make sure and verify that only dirt or bonded contaminents were the reason for discoloration and not any applied products. Thx, c4

Well, if anything it will be dirt, loose wax, or wax with dirt embedded in it. I wouldnt think that loose, clear wax would show up. But eitherway, it needs removed.

Using Quick Clay, the clay is a light color at least, so you will be able to see dirt easier.
