I know this is probably a very old and very annoying question. But since i used eagle one in the past, i thought that hard scrubbing was the only way to clean the rims, since none of the spray products seemed to do very much. Now for the question, which rim cleaner is the best on stock alluminum rims that are pretty well covered in brake dust? Will I still need to use a good amount of scrubbing with this product? If so, what brush do you recommend that i use to scrube the rims? And finally, after i clean my rims, should i apply nxt all metal polysh?

Re: Cleaning rims
If it's uncoated aluminum rims, I would use a dilluted Castrol Degreaser with some car soap/water mix to remove the brake dust. I used a bug scrubber on wheels to get rims clean. I seem to have better control over a bug sponge than a brush on the rims. If you the rims are uncoated, I would go over them with some NXT All Metal to give them some protection. If they are clear coated, I would hit them up with some DC #1 and maybe some NXT Tech wax. Just my plan of attack on something like that.2016 Focus ST

Re: Cleaning rims
If you already own the Nxt Metal Polish, take some on a cloth, and rub it on a fairly clean spot.
Rubbed on bare metal, the cloth will turn black.
Rubbed on clear coat, you will get a little dirt, but mostly just the color of the product.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Cleaning rims
I guess i get mostly the product but some black from the brake dust. When i wipe a clean rim, the cloth does not change color. So my rims have clear coat, What is the plan of attack?'00 Audi A4 1.8 T

Re: Cleaning rims
Incidentally, if you have exhaust tips or a muffler you can get to, they will be bare metal, for comparison's sake.
On my wheels, I just use the Multi-Piece Wheel Cleaner, a wheel face brush, soft tooth brush, and one of those long and thin wheel brushes. I also use an old cloth to wipe the back of the spokes.
After that, you can clay, and use a paint cleaner and wax if you want, but the wax will wear off more quickly.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue
