  • Detail Question need advice

Evening folks new member here. can you some advice. I have some swirls and a hairline scratch on my new ride & I'm going to wash/detail tomorrow. First wash then clay bar and then I was going to use the ScratchX. Should I also use a cleaner after the ScratchX and then NXT Tech Wax or should I use a polish and then NXT Tech Wax after the ScratchX.
I'm thinking the cleaner and ScratchX are sort of the same with the ScratchX being a tad stronger. Does that sound right? So maybe follow the ScratchX with polish and then wax?
Also, my car was washed followed by clay bar, cleaner and sealant 3 weeks ago. It's a Dark blue Solstice if the color matters.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Your doing quite a cleaning as it is with the claybar itself. You could follow up with DC1 and then polish (optional) and finish it off with the NXT. But since you did the detail 3 weeks ago I would Clay as needed, polish and wax. As for as the Scratch X.. I only use it as spot treatment.

even after i've used scratch x i passed over the car with a cleaner to ensure its totally done right and up to my standards. its all up to the person doing the job and their own technique. self perference also makes a big deal.

i only use Scratch X as spot treatment but i've heard of guys doing full car treatment. to each is own i guess.

but here at MOL they say that you use the least aggressive product first.

so after you wash, clay, and then use your Scratch X you can start by using a DC1 and then DC2 to try and remove some swirls.

if you're not happy with the result than you can move up to the more aggressive products of say M80 and M83.

after either or you can follow with NXT x 2.

Thanks guys I appreciate the advice. I also think ScratchX s/b used only as a spot treatment, figure you should only use it where you have scratches and swirls not where you don't. I guess depending how it looks after claybar and ScratchX will determine if I will followup with a cleaner or just a polish and wax.
