  • New paint...what to do

I just got one of my cars back from the body shop. I now need to detail the whole car again because of dust and **** from the shop. How long should I wait till It's safe to wax the repainted area. The cost of body and paint repairs are un-godly anymore and I sure don't want to screw it up after droping nearly 2 grand for repairs.

    Wait 60-90 days.

You can still wash it and what not as many times as you want, just apply no wax.

Most painters will tell you to wait for 30 days before you apply a wax or any type of paint sealant, some will tell you to wait longer but 30 days is the norm. For more detailed information as to why, check out this article,

      Paint Needs to Breathe

Until this 30 day time period has passed you can wash and polish the entire car using any of our car washes and any of our pure polishes, for example Gold Class Wash and Deep Crystal Polish.

        Thanks Mike and Mike!
The body shop guy told me that 30 days is "more than sufficient" because they use an infared heat system to help harden the paint. The paint match is unbeleivable. color & gloss are dead on! I did wash with gold class wash. I guess that I will wait 6 weeks or so before I detail it.
