  • Shampoo Plus...quick question

Just a quick question regarding Shampoo Plus...how many ounces per gallon is 10:1 dilution with this product.

    Thanks,

My catalog says Shampoo Plus gets a 128:1 dilution. Since there are 128 ounces in a gallon that would be one ounce per gallon of water.

A product that needs a 10:1 dilution (like Detailer-line Glass Cleaner) would have 12.8 ounces added to a gallon of water.

        I'm sure that's a typo.

I use it at 128:1 all the time. 10:1 would be really soupy and really expensive. Probably wouldn't rinse off very easily either.

          Re: Shampoo Plus...quick question

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I do have some "troubles" too with the dilution. 128:1 as the other PC said, means 128 parts water and 1 part product.

He said that 1 gallon of water needs 1 ounce of product. Since I usually work with a bucket which can hold 15 L water (+/- 4 gallons) that would make 4 ounces of product for one bucket of 4 gallon).

This results in (metric) 15 L water and 11,6 cl product. But 11,6 seems so much? I measured it in my measuring cup and was really surprised. 11,6 cl just seems to be too much. For example a glass coca cola bottle (small one) is 20 cl, so that means it's filled for 1/2 part with product for only one bucket...

I must be doing something wrong. Anyone can help me out? Thanks in advance.

            Hey,

It is one of main carwash soaps. I have never needed it stronger than 3 oz per five gallons of water. At that ratio, it works awesome!!

You did the math right for a full 15L at 128:1.

If your bucket is 15L at the very top, filling it below that is probably around 12L or 13L. That would make a 128:1 dilution something closer to 100mL.

And, as 2hotford points out, the soaps do work great a lower concentrations (higher dilution ratios). His 3oz in 5 gallons of water is about 213:1. If you’re filling your bucket with around 13L that would be about 60 mL of soap.

Can anyone tell me where I can find the full line of Meguiars products in Costa Rica? I have only found the nxt gen tek wax and leather cleaner here in Guanacaste. I'm looking for the DC system 1-3 and a clay kit, quick detailer spray etc...

                thanks,

                  Re: Shampoo Plus...quick question

Shampoo Plus sounds more like an extractor shampoo rather than a shampoo one would use to friction shampoo carpets? Our extractor shampoo has a 64 to 1 dilution.

In any case, want to share with you all a way to tell what quality your shampoo product is.

Dilute to manufacturer's recommended level. Then pour a small amount into a coffee can lid or saucer, and sit on a shelf undistrubed until it completely evaporates.

The residual in the lid or saucer tells the tale.

                  a. If it is a sticky, gooey residue it is a cheap shampoo. That same residue is what is left on the carpet fibers.

                  b. If it is a whitish, flakey residue it is a much higher quality shampoo.

                  Hope that helps.

Sorry, you all are right, it is a car wash shampoo, I did not read the label.

However, the information posted about carpet and upholstery shampoo is still valuable as an indicator of good vs poor quality shampoos in this catagory.
