  • First full detail with g100a and TAPE LINES!

So I did my first full detail with the G100A and was very happy with the results. I posted some picts in the showoff forum.

We encourage MOL members to show off their latest before & after results. We also welcome "Work in Progress" Threads. For Enthusiasts or Professional Detailers

However, in places where I taped off there were tape lines. I've read threads about these already but I can't seem to avoid them. And when I get them it's really really hard to impossible to remove some of them. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Are you speaking of tape lines on the paint or plastic trim?

Ive never had a problem removing them.

Take a MF towel and put your index finger into the towel... use the tip of your finger covered by the towel to rub the lines, it should come right off.

My lines seem to take a lot more than a little rubbing. I even tried claying them off and that didn't work. I used 3M tape for autos if that makes any difference.

I see you're in SW Florida. Was the car hoe sunt or in th when you taped it up and worked on it? And how long did you leave the tape on the car? Maybe the glue melted onto the car?

Ahhhhhhhhhh... you mean the adhesive stuff from the tape is sticking to the car? If Im wondering the same thing as hooked.

The car was in the shade but it was still pretty hot. The lines I believe are from the build up of product and not the tape. The tape was on the car for maybe 6 hrs.

Wow, my first post really got messed up. That's what happens when you type on a laptop that has the touchpad underneath the spacebar that's too sensitive...the cursor tends to jump around when you accidentally make contact with it and you keep typing. I meant to write "was the car hot or in the sun..."

But you figured it out despite my garbled words!

Oh well, it was a guess.
