I had a customer who had a black 94 Camaro. I used #7, followed by #21 and he was very impressed

You might also try DC2 followed by NXT Wax.

I have had a 96 Camaro since it was new, and 90% of that time I have used Meguiars (sometimes strayed to Zaino/Mothers but always came back).

To freshen your cars paint now (and every spring) I recommend:
        1) good wash (GC or #00)
        2) paint cleaner (hand DC1 or machine#80) as well as clay the horizontal surfaces.
        3) polish with DC2 or #7
        4) seal with Nxt or #20
        5) final coat of #26 (or another NXT).

Thereafter wash weekly and reapply #26 or NXT wax monthly.

Even though my Camaro is 10+yrs and 250,000+KMs everyone says it still looks like new: http://www.swbs.com/mosp1024.gif

PS: *very* important: when you wash your car every week or two, you **must** wipe it to avoid water-spots. since you are wiping anyway, be sure to use a quick-wax-spray to spray every panel before wiping. that greatly maintains the wax and you will LOVE the result. maybe end up waxing only 2 month .

PPS: you mentioned the clay and polish+wax, but not the paint cleaner. be sure to paint clean (DC1 if by hand) at least once per year (I do #80 by polisher every spring and fall) since cleaning is the basis required for a great shine. otherwise you just end up waxing a dirty surface and only get 90% of the available result.

Paint cleaning, once or twice per year, is the underlying difference between a good shine and a great shine.

Here's what I use on my black Tbird.
            Clay,#80,#7.#21, then LSP........looks like glass!

              best wax

if you truly want to know the best wax...and the wax that gives you the deepest shine and wet look then i would have to say go with pinnacle souveran. its $80, which is expensive for wax but im telling you it is truly the best wax out there for black!

since my black bird is not a daily driver, I do not wash it all that much, I just detail it, since black and water dont really mix well, we try to stay away from water as much as possible

What do you guys think of 5 instead of 7. I am going to do the same process but only have #5. I know it is meant for high humidity but the weather has cooled off here.

It is my understanding that #5 would be fine (it is just that #7 is "the ultimate" with slightly more oils etc).

I doubt you would see the difference unless side-by-side, or unless you were entering a car show where the untimate last few % differences really mattered.
