  • Waffle foam pads.

What are they for? Saw them at a PBE store the other day.
    Marketing gimmick? Thanks all!

In theory, they would give the pad more bite, kind of like using terry cloth instead of smooth foam. I think the Sonus Swirl Remover Pad is a similar idea, with having a ridge or something in the foam.

I've never tried it though, maybe there is something too it, maybe not.

Haven't tried them yet, but I believe the ideas behind the waffle pattern is to allow a better circulation of air under the pad so it doesn't get as hot, possibly allows a more uniform temperature across the polishing surface, minimizes the chance of the pad hopping if the pad dries out and reduced splatter to some degree.

Whether they work that much better or not I don't know, but I do know that I get stunning results with the flat foam pads
