    Are these steps ok? #80,#7,NXT Tech Wax...

    Hi guys.

    Just want to be sure that my planned steps will work and I wont get in trouble in any case.

    This weekend I want to detail my new car (paint is 5-6 weeks old). First I will make a good wash with a dishwasher to remove the sealant from the dealer. I saw a few small dealer installed swirls which I want to remove after washing. I think #80 will do this job with may polisher. After that I will try my new #7 Show car glaze (by hand) and the last step would be NXT Tech Wax (maybe a few applications).

    Do you see any conflicts? I only think about #80 and #7 - #7 and NXT Tech wax will work, like I read here in megs forum. Also, I think after 5 weeks after painting, there wont be any risk to use #80 on the paint, am I right?

    What do you mean wash it with a dishwasher? I hope you dont mean dishwashing soap

      Do you mean a new car, with factory paint? Then yes, it is fine to detail right away.

      If it is a fresh repaint, you would want to wait longer before waxing.

      And please dont use dishsoap, just get a qood quality car wash soap. Between claying if you choose, and the paint cleaner, any selant will be safey removed.

      And Meguiars recomends 2 coats of wax.

        Using a good wash (anything meguiars is fine), and a cleaner will remove any stuff the dealer may have on it.

          Thanks guys. Yeah, I meant dishwashing SOAP! I always use meguiars NXT shampoo - dont be afraid! ;-) I only want to remove first the factory wax or sealant (dont know what these guys use) first, also on areas which are not reachable with the polisher.

          Dont mind, I did it usually in this way: dishwashing soap to remove the wax / sealant (only 1 time... not always when I wash the cars!). The following steps like clay, polish, wax are clear - I use megs since years and additional I´m an authorized meguiars dealer in germany - but my experiences are mainly in the consumer product line, I started only 1-2 month ago with some items of the mirror glaze line and still learning. So only thing is / was, if the listed products can be used in this way "together" or if there would be any problems. But now I think everything is fine! :-)

          PS: its a new car, painted from factory!

            Yeah, you can mix products as needed from the Professional, Consumer, and Detailer Lines. A cleaner from one, a polish from another, a wax from the other, all work fine together.

            Doing a car once with dishsoap wont ruin anything, but we just wanted to make sure it wasnt a habit.

              Absolutely right @Murr. I also tell my customers that dishwashing soap is not good (or might not be good) for permanent use, especially when you wax your car!

              Offtopic story:
              A guy in an onlineforum was a little bit "angry" about the gold class wax. He said "it lasts only 2 or 3 washes" and then the wax layer is gone away. I couldnt confirm that, asked him about his washing tecnic and accesoires he used. First he got offended and said "You think I dont know how to wash a car? I use mainly meguiars parts, like wash mitt, water magnet, gold class wax...." - BUT: He used a shampoo from a german car detailing company. Sound good, but I did the work to find out the ingredients of this shampoo and checked the chemical words in wikipedia! AND: I found out that one part of the content was developed first FOR CLEANING TILES / FLOORS! Additional, there was mentioned that this chemical content is a strong FAT AND OIL REMOVER! Any more questions why the gold class wax only lasts a few washes?

              It was not a fault of the customer in my opionion its unbelievable that a car detailing company which also produces waxes etc is offering THIS SHAMPOO without any information about this fat remover...
