  • #7 and NXT liquid wax ok to combine?

I plan on doing my monthly detail on my Black 98Z28 but this will be my first time using polish. Normally my routine is wash, clay as needed, and wax. I picked up a bottle of #7 and want to know will it be alright after I apply the NXT over it. I've been hearing NXT has mild cleaners in it.

The NXT Tech Wax is okay to use over the Show Car Glaze #7. You actually need the Tech Wax so you can seal the polish. If in the future you have any questions or concerns or would like to order product, please fill free to give me a call. Thank you.

Thanks for heads up Shane! I'm looking forward to the results of using polish for the first time. I was reading the bottle and it says apply a very small amount of the product. What would be correct amount..about the size of a dime more or less?

A lilttle #7 goes a long way. On a foam applicator between a dime and a quarter sized dob should be quite enough to do about half a hood. Message it gently onto the surface then wipe it off with a micro fiber or terry towel. I found that if I wipe it off lightly then apply the lotion to another section the first section will have skinned enough to get a final, good, clean wipe on the second pass.

Works just fine. This is the combo I used to use on my Volvo. My last run through I finished with #21 sealant.

Which pad should you use to apply it a buffing or a finishing pad ????

#7 would be a finishing pad, though that is one that can almost be easier on and off by hand.

I prefer #7 applied with a finishing pad and removed by hand. I feel that I can get a more even thin coat with the 9006 than I can by hand. But it's all personal pref.

I would be applying the polish by hand...any tips for hand application? Should I be using the hightech applicator pad or can I use my favorite Meg's... I forgot the name..its the little white brick applicator lol.

Well, on the DVD, Mike uses the Hi-Tec for #7, and the "white brick" aka Even Coat for the Spray Wax.

The only tip for applying by hand is to get a THIN coat on. A little #7 goes a long way. I prefer foam pads for #7 by hand so I would go with the High tech pad. When you remove, use a microfiber and don't use heavy pressure. I use two towels. Wipe with towel #1 first to break the skin and then follow with towel #2 to remove the rest. You won't actually remove all of it, just get it so it's even and the towel can wipe smoothly over the surface without any grabby spots and move on to the next section. Have fun and get ready to be in awe of that show car shine that #7 leaves!
