  • Detailing a customers Ranger Bass boat..

....which happens to be my Dads boat.

My Dad is a Bass Tournament fisher and has a pretty nice Ranger.. silver with a TON of metalic flake, like a lot of bass boats do.

The other day he asked me if I could detail his boat for him... thing is I dont own a lick of any boat products. I totally positive I could get him to invest in some Megs Marine products before I detail the boat. I have some questions though.

The boat is pretty well taken care of. There really isnt any issues with the underside of the boat.... really no issues anywhere on the boat.

Can I use my G100 on the gelcoat? What should I use? Is car cleaner wax different then the marine cleaner wax? Do I need to clay it? Its pretty clean so should I just one step with cleaner wax or do a full blown polish/wax?

    Any info would be great.

    Thanks!

The gelcoat is ALOT harder on a boat than it is on a car. I dont know if you would need to clay a boat or not? Ive never thought about that before... Im sure you can use the G-100 on the boat with no problems.

Wondering that myself SS. My sister's boyfriend has a ski boat that needs some work to it. It's in pretty rough shape compared to what your describing though. I pretty much have a little list made up for ADS on what I need.

I do alot of boats and #80 does an awesome job with the right pad. I usually come back with 2 coats of NXT about an hour apart.

        Here's one I did recently....

Wow Justin! You did an excellent job on the boat. Did you use #80 w/ the PC? Which pad did you use, 8006? Excellent job again!

Used an EDGE2000 Yellow pad with the #80 and an EDGE2000 White pad for the NXT.
Used the G100 set on 6 ( you can do that with these pads) for the #80 also; 3 for the NXT.

That looks great! Thanks for the tip!

I will have to go with the #80 option then.

BTW.. Im --> <-- that close to buying a Edge 2000 kit.

Would the Edge 2000 yellow pad be equivalent to the Megs 7006 pad?

Yep, it is. And very durable too. I've used mine for over 3 months now! Remember you get two pads in one and have no backplate failures.
                I couldn't be happier.
