  • at low temperature, do polymers fail to bond to paint?

I know many wax manufacturers (including Meguiars) recommend waxing at above 50 degrees F.

At 35~45 degrees F, do polymers and waxes in Meguiars paint protectant (e.g. ColorX, NXT, etc.) really fail to bond to paint?

Or does the low temperature merely affect drying time?

Did anyone wax one side at low temperature and the other side in heated garage, and compare stain resistance, water beading, slickness, etc.?

I guess "drying to a haze" may not be enough to indicate proper bonding.

Anyway, I hope there are specialty car waxes for those living in area with long winter without heated garage. For example, ColorX Cold, reformulated ColorX optimized for use at low temperature.

I have used ColorX and Nxt in the 40's, and it has been fine. It can take a little longer to dry though. If it is colder than that, I'm not going out anyway.
