Hi, I just got my new truck, a 2005 GMC 2500HD and it is Onyx black. I thought I would give it a polish, so I washed it with NXT wash and mitt, used a chamois and dried it good. Then I used my rotary buffer with a 8006 pad and M09 to remove various small scratches and defects. I then went with M07 by hand and was going to finish up with M26 but didn't get there. I only did one side to see how it was working.
After the M09 & M07, I rolled it out into the sun. Just like other people, it looked great in the garage, but had lots of swirl marks in the sun. I thought the M09 was supposed to get rid of them, but I think it put them into the paint as when I bought it, it wasn't full of swirl marks.
I have read tons of posts regarding other people with the same problem, but I am not exactly sure what to do. I bought the Clay, and a new 8006 pad so I was thinking of doing this:
- wash with NXT
- clay
- polish again with M09 on new 8006 pad with rotary buffer
- polish with M07 using rotary buffer - w 8006
- polish with M26 by hand.
Any other ideas, should I pick up the M80 instead of using M09?
