Hard water on chrome!

The front bumper of my Tahoe has hard water spots that wont come off. I'm afraid they're etched on there. I've already tried CLR and polishes and X-14 and... well, you get the picture. Any ideas on what I can do short of re-chroming the whole bumper? Any help is appreciated.

Do you have any pictures of the chrome with the water spots? I'm not sure what kinds of conditions your Tahoe is subjected to, nor how long the water spots have been there, however, in my experiences, chromed metal, such as those on bumpers are pretty durable.

Here's a suggestion that you may want to try in the mean time:
Using a metal polish such as the

work it into the chrome surface with a moderate amount of elbow grease (not so much that your fingers turn white), in small circular motions. Proceed by buffing off the metal polish with another clean, dry rag. It may take a few applications before you remove all of the water spots from the area.

I have had success using this method on several cars, however, it is difficult to diagnose your particular situation because you said that you believe they may be etched into the bumper. Some piece of mind is that metal is more difficult to have water spots "etch" versus something like paint, or given the right conditions, glass.

I don't have a picture of it right now, but it's been there for over a year. the sprinklers got to my bumper several times. It looks like I washed it and didn't dry it, but it doesn't come off. I'll try the polish and repost.
