Its going to winter before you know it and I want to keep my 2006 charger looking great. Alas, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all this detailing stuff! Here is the plan:

wash with Gold Shampoo and wash
    clay bar
    wash again
treat for swirls and webs- enter the PC 7424
    glaze
    wax
    sealant

I was going to use #80 for the swirls since they are really light but is there a batter choice that isnt as abrasive?

I then going to use #7 show car glaze

    then hi tech wax (m26)
then a sealant - here is something I need advice on since I know some sealnats do not bond well with some waxes

Ive also heard of using water and alcohol to clean...explain this and when should I do it...

help and guidance welcomed...please include any hints

    Hi mate,

First of all, swap round the roder you do the wax and sealent in. You should always use a sealent first and the follow by a wax as a sealent will struggle to bond correctly to a wax.

If the swilrs are light, then Meguiars #80 stands an excellent chance of being able to deal with them on its on by PC. Go for a W8006 Polishing pad. I apply at speed 3 for one pass to spread and then multiple passes at speed 5 until the residue goes claer then buff off the residue. try this on a test section on your vehicle and if it removes the swilrs to your satisfaction then continue like this for the entire car. Should the #80 fail to make the desired impact in the swirls, then consider using Meguiars #83 on a W8006 Polishing pad, applied using the same technique of application as for the #80. Then follow this with the #80 to refine the finish and products a deeper wetter looking shine. The glaze oils in #80 are excellent for bringing out solid and dark colours are produce a really deepand wet looking shine.

Then I would be tempted to top this off with #21 followed by #26 from the Meguiars range.

I would have to agree with Kickin Griffin on this. I've used M80 to great success on a variety of cars and have no concerns about it being too aggressive to use regularly.

I honestly think your plan of 7, 26 AND a sealant is overkill for a daily driver (especially after using M80), even one as cool as a 2006 Charger! As mentioned, 21 is a terrific product and imparts a beautiful finish to any well prepped car.

A 50:50 water/alcohol mix is used by some folks to ensure that the #80/#83 have removed the swirls.

The polishing oils can naturaly fill in fine swirls, so sometimes you might not realize you left a few swirls behind.

Wiping on some of the mix after using #80 will remove any of the polishing oils left behind.
