  • What is the easiest foolproof method to getting streak-free windows?

I am having bad luck trying to get the inside of my vehicle's windows streak-free clean, primarily the rear hatchback window (2000 Celica). It always has streaks on it, and I've tried multiple methods; including the newspaper trick, microfiber + water, and Stoner's Invisible Glass. None of those methods work for me. The streaks are so bad that when hit with sunlight, it almost looks like the window is fogged up, which makes it difficult for rear viewing. I haven't tried any of Meguiar's' glass cleaners.

Who has the best glass cleaning streak-free tip?

well in my experience, newspaper and MFT's are the best for leaving your glasses streak-free. however, if they are still streaked, be sure to use something that can dissolve grease or tar (this applies a lot if the car owner smokes) without damaging window tinting (ammonia free mostly).

another tip I could give you with the MFT, is that once you finish cleaning your window, if you still see any streaking, grab a clean MFT towel and remove any streaking remaining.

and I can't say anything bout meguiar's glass cleaners cuz i haven't used them. I think however, thwey'll work good since all the products i've used from this brand work far beyond my expectations.

    Hope this helps

This works very well for me:

Materials: Meguiars DuoFiber towels - Two total.
      Next Generation Glass Cleaner

Spray glass and wipe with the first towel
Follow up with your "dry" towel for final wipe down.

      No streaks. Simple.

The reason I use two is that the first one is mainly used for the cleaning and rubbing the cleaner around-eventually it gets too wet. The second drier towel does a great job of getting all excess cleaner off the window leading to a streak free finish. The windows end up so clean with much clarity. You'll ask yourself "Where did my windows go?"

I agree, Very hard to beat NXT Generation Glass Cleaner! I use just about the same method (I only use one towle, turning to a dry side for final wipe down). If you can not find any DuoFiber(discontinued) towels, Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfiber works very well too.

I use the NXT Glass Cleaner and DuoFiber towel every time with great results. It is unfortunate that the towel is discontinued.

              Hi,

I'm going to repeat a tip that I read somewhere else (can't remember where) and this can be pretty handy-

Wipe the inside and outside in different directions. For example outside top to bottom and inside left to right (or whatever) this way you can pretty much identify where the streaks/blemishes are. Can save you some running back and forth this way.

              ALSO,

In another post I mentioned some marks that I had inside the windshield and it was recommended that I use the detailers choice glass cleaner. Aerosol can # D-12119.

I immediately ordered 3 cans and I think this stuff is great.

I used to use and think that stoners invisible glass was best, and don't get me wrong, it is great stuff too (I still use it). But I'm really liking the Detailers Choice a whole lot more. Smells great too.

              Just my 2¢.

              :-)

                Brandon,

As mentioned by AnthonyG in a previous post; the two towel method is the key to streak free windows.

Use one dampened towel for cleaning and one clean dry towel for final wipedown. It is clearly that easy.

Wow, didn't know they discontinued those towels. I better go pick up some more that I saw at a local store before they are completely out. Thanks

I use a Meg's Supreme Shine MF with some NXT glass cleaner and never streak.

I've used many other glass cleaners but never tryed the newspaper method.

I use isopropyl alcohol 70% and a MF towel. One side to clean the other to final wipe.

I will also give the isopropyl alcohol a try since I have some spots that won't come off on the inside of my windshield.
