  • Scratches on car- HELP

I have a 95 black corvette and there are scratches on the rear deck next to the fuel filler door, I've tried Meg. ScratchX but they WILL NOT come out. I'm using a sears orbital buffer, I have a G100 on order, will the G100 do a better job then this one that I have now? Any help is surley at this point in time. As always thanks to all for your help and ideas. Jim

As far as i've read, if the G100 with a combination of M83 (dual action cleaner/polish) and a w8000 foam polishing pad don't do the job, then the scractch should be removed with two possibilities:

    rotary buffer + a compound

wet sanding + rotary buffer + compound (to remove sanding marks)

just be sure the scratch doesn't show any color coat or primer, because if this is the case, then there's no other way to repair that, than a pain touchup or repainting the panel.

if you have to make a touchup on the scratches, check out this link.

    Hope this helps

...and, yup, G100 will do a better job than an orbital buffer. I forgot to answer that :P

Also, I'm pretty sure ScratchX is recommended to be used by hand, not by orbital buffer or PC. I don't think you would be able to put enough "passion" into the affected unless it's by hand.

I know they've said a new reformulated ScratchX is coming out that can be used by PC but I don't know if that is available yet.
