So, after much thought and reading the different product labels, a question came to mind;
All of the dressings seem to be good on plastic/rubber/vinyl, as far as Trim Detailer, ASD, Hyper-Dressing, #38, #40, Gold Class Vinyl and Rubber, etc.
And it sounds like it is safe to say that #40 maybe has the most cleaning ability of the 'dressings'.
However, in a way the label makes it sound as if #40 might be one of the only ones (maybe Gold Class as well) that is going to recondition the rubber, or re-moisturize it a bit so to speak? Whereas the other dressings/detailers may just be more of a protective coating?
One reason this question came to mind is I came across an old suitcase (like 1950's or earlier) that was just being used to store some pictures. Pretty beat up vinyl, but mostly dry. So I had ASD or the Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner to pick from. Having heard that the Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner is also safe for the fake vinyl seats, I figured I would try it, since the ASD doesnt seem to make quite as much mention about moisturizing, etc.
It turned out nice either way, whether it was the best product to use or not, but I was left wondering if certain products were more protective coatings, and other products may be better at restoring the oils, removing the brittlenes, etc in older rubber/vinyl? This was really the first 'old' thing I had to deal with.
Thanks for reading a long rambling post..
