    What happens when particles come off of the pad, is this just dried wax residue or what. I have been storing my pads in water to keep them clean.

    Hey,

    Whoa on storing the pads in water!! Meguiar's recommends that you do not even wash your pads! (I am assuming you are referring to buffing pads). Storing them in water may loosen the adhesive holding the velcro to the pad. As result, the velcro may let go and you could damage the paint if the backing plate comes into contact with it.

    As for the foam pad dust, little bits sometimes fly off. But if chunks start to go, the pad must be replaced.

      I would be worried about mold attacking the pad if it's stored in water....Meguiar's pads need to be able to breathe when stored.
