  • ScratchX question

I think I may have applied ScratchX incorrectly. I just noticed in the sun today that the area where I applied it is FULL of little scratches from the circular motion of my application. Since scratchX is not supposed to do this I must have applied it wrong. When you apply it do you gently work a tiny bit in per application or do you work it in hard? I worked it in hard could that have done it? Also how much should be put on the applicator per application?

    Thanks

ScratchX by itself will not scratch paint. At ever Saturday class we teach, we pass around a small paint panel with ScratchX on it and encourage everyone to grab some between their fingers and rub it back and forth to really sink in the knowledge that the product is smooth and creamy, not abrasive at all.

You yourself can do this since you have some ScratchX.

Thus if you have scratches where you applied the product it is likely either your applicator material or your technique or both.

Also remember, ScratchX isn't a wax, this means it' snot the end of the process, you have to follow up with a wax when your finished with the ScratchX.

As for how much to use, you want to use the right amount, or an ample amount, not to little, not too much, it's hard to say how big a dollop of product to use because we can't see what you're doing exactly. You would be better off to use a little too much versus a little to little as the product does lubricate the surface as you're working the paint and this is part of the equation.

Try re-cleaning the area again using fresh product on a clean car using a clean, foam applicator like this one.

Then work the area using firm pressure, don't push down like an absolute mad man as polishing paint isn't a simple mechanical process, it requires care in how you use your hands.

If you've put scratches into the paint, chances are good it's going to take more than one application of ScratchX to fix it.
