  • Water Streaks on Wet Glass?

Hi guys, I do not have images to show you all, but I will try my best to describe what I'm experiencing for every car wash.

A look at the dry windows show nothing at all. But when the windows are washed, very visible markings of the way the wipers goes are shown on the windows. It's like seeing a semi-circle line on the top of the windscreen.

Then, when I wipe dry using a waffle weave towel, a lot of water stains (I assume it is so called) will be left on the window. It is only after 1 to 2 mins where the window is air-dried, will the "water stains" disappear, seemingly showing a perfect clear window.

Does anyone know what is the problem?

I have seen some of my friends whose windscreen is able to hold water as if there is no wax, and appearance seems like you are looking at a clear lake. Mine is however, beading water.

Sounds like you have both some scratching or scuffing from your blades and also water spots or etchings on the glass.

I had something similar on my front window exactly as you described. When the window is dry it's clear (and apparently clean), but when wet the wiper pattern is clearly visible. It seems like the longer I go between washings the harder it is to remove. I remember back when the car was brand new it was really easy to clean off. These days I never seem to be able to get it all.

Washing with GC when I do the rest of the car doesn't seem to be enough any more; I usually have to use something a bit stronger. Lately I've been trying the NXT Glass Cleaner and much of it is gone. I'm still seeing bits and pieces of it here and there on the dring stage (when wiping with a cloth), but I can't see it when simply wet any more. My guess is that is is general yuck / road grime that has baked on over the years.
