here's a quoted previous post from Mike Phillips concerning the application of #7 Show Car Glaze.
"Hi paranoid123,
I'm just out of a meeting and headed into another one and then the rest of the evening is scheduled for product testing in Meguiar's Garage, but real quick...
#7 Show Car Glaze is a pure polish intended only for new finishes or finishes in like new condition, this means pre-cleaned so the finish is clean, smooth and ready for polishing or waxing.
After that, it's just a matter of applying a thin coat of polish to the finish, work it in gently like you would a hand lotion to your face or skin, and then move onto a new section.
Typically, you would apply and remove this product one section at a time as the product does not need to dry. Some people, myself for example, prefer to apply this product to the entire finish at one time and then remove it.
The point is, the benefit from the product is from introducing it to the paint, working it in, and then removing it.
After this you would then apply a coat of wax.
As far as machine versus hand application goes, it's a pretty easy product to apply by hand and it doesn't take much to go over the entire finish. Machine application of just about any product is always going to be easier and almost always do a better job than your hand will do. So it's kind of your preference."
Originally posted by deltascrew Would there be any benefit to applying #7 directly after polishing with 80
Some people may see a difference in looks, some wont. #80 has enough polishing oils to care for the paint, so the only thing will be if you can see a difference in looks.
#7 is a pure polish. I have applied it by machine but the oils soak through the pad and it's hard to get you pad clean after usage. Easier to do by hand.
#7 really brings the depth of color out in a car (similair to Color X but has a deep smooth look) If your finish has any type of swirls or imperfections than you might want to apply it after the 1st coat of wax. (1st coat of wax can cover allot of light swirls and cob webs..sometimes) then apply a 2nd coat of wax. If you still have some paint imperfections that stand out than do not use #7 because it will make them more noticable.
Make sure you take your time removing ALL the residue of #7 or you'll have streaks or dull spots when applying the 2nd coat of wax.
ALL in all: Your best bet is to remove as many imperfections as possible before moving forward with polish or wax.
