    Re: Coating glass with #21

Target sells a product called Rain Clear and Glass Scrub. I bought them together as a package for around $5. The Glass Scrub is similar to a glass stovetop cleaner - it worked ok. The Rain Clear is a RainX type product and has worked great on my car.

My combo is cheap and gives excellent results. I have an old onion sack ( http://www.roadtriphats.com/photos/onion_bag.jpg ) that I simply dip in my soapy bucket and scrub my windows with it. All the residue and junk on the windows is safely scraped off.

I then apply Rain-X and I am done.

no wax should be used on the front windshield, the build up under the wipers can cause big problems in the rain. streaking and such. it doesnt happen right away, it happens when you turn the wipers on in the rain and then the wipers dry out and so does the build up under the wipers. next time it rains the wax gets soft and smears

Glass is much harder than paint. So anything that is safe for paint should be safe for glass, but not vice-versa.

LOL - no onions. I just fold the sack into a nice small square and scrub away. I think i read that on some detailing site years ago...I also heard u can use and old toothbrush and toothpaste on windows for really stubborn spots...Ah well.

I just use meg's glass cleaner and a white scourer, as it doesn't scratch glass. Works like a treat.
