  • Best investement EVER - Not the PC

It was the "How to use the PC" DVD. I just bought the Meg's PC to use on my Black Beauty. The DVD gave me some neat tips on how to use it. I tried an orbital a long time ago and tossed it because I didn't like the results. It was more MY technique (or lack there of) than the orbital I am sure now.

As I become more confident with the PC I know the finsih of my car will only get better now. Thanks to Meguiar's for making it more enjoyable and rewarding to keep that show car shine on it.

Just to clarify, this DVD was not produced nor sold by Meguiar's. It was created by SCG Productions for ShowCarGarage and it features Meguiar's products and the PC.

Glad you enjoyed it and found my video useful!

The RIGHT technique makes all the difference in the world!

I stand corrected, you did a terrific job with it. Thanks!

I am sure that the video gave some great tips and techniques. Yet, like any other piece of machinery, it takes time in the seat(or hands) to become proficient. I agree the PC is a great tool.

True but with the right techniques, your time in the seat can be slashed to a fraction of the time. And when it comes to polishing paint, having bad technique isn't just bad for you, it's bad for who ever's car you're working on.

          Just my 2 cents.

I don't see it as a hijack so no problem here. Look at their site, they have different packages for the PC w/ product. I think it will be money well spent. I have done too many hand jobs on cars - NEVER again !

yeah i understand the wet sand thing. hehe. Ive never done any of this just inquiring on info. I probably will only use the pc a couple of times a year. unless I can get a little side business going with it. Would it be worth the money for it to get to use just to clean up my own cars even if thats all i did with it? Does it make that big of a difference to compensate for the investment?
Thanks for all the help, just a newb to detailing who loves cars.

The first time I used the PC (last week), I applied #80 to remove the old minor buffing swirls left by the previous owner. I went over a couple area's that had scratches in it and could see some improvement after 2 more applications. My plan is to do another complete cleaning/waxing in the fall, at that time I will give the Scratch X a try to see if I can't make those disappear. I didn't want to get too aggressive on my first try with the PC. See what you can learn from the DVD!

The official answer is no. It's way to big a jump in cutting from sanding to the pc.

In theory the answer is maybe, depending on the characteristics of the paint and how many levels of sanding you're willing to do. It's normal to wetsand to something from #1200 to #2000 grit then rotary buff. To attempt it with a PC you'll have to go much, much finer on the sanding. #3000? #4000? #6000? Who knows? You'd have to experiment.
