    Hello, and to MOL.

Claying is very easy once you get the hang of it, and the results are well worth the extra time and extra step!!

First, you need to thoroughly wash the vehicle to remove any dust particles and dirt that are loosely congregating on your vehicle. Make sure that you do a very good job at washing the entire vehicle. Then, dry the vehicle off using a high quality drying tool such as Meguiars Water Magnet.

Then, you'll need to make sure that you're in a shaded area, if you aren't already form washign the vehicle. Start the claying process on a flat painted panel. It is a good idea to break the clay into smaller pieces so that if you accidentally drop one, you'll still have some left over. For example, if you've purchased Meguiar's Quik Clay kit, then breaking the clay into 2 pieces should suffice.

To begin claying, you'll need to spray some quick detailing spray onto the area to be clayed. Keep to a small area so that you won't miss a spot or allow the quick detail spray to dry. Rub the piece of clay back and forth over the area until the surface is a very smooth. Then wipe off the area with a microfiber towel. Before moving on to another area, kneed the clay to keep the trapped contaminants to the inside of your flattened piece of clay.

There are a few things to keep in mind while claying.

    1. the area must be freshly washed to ensure that it is as clean as possible. You don't want to drag anything over your paint's finish.

    2. You need to use an ample amount of detailing spray to ensure enough lubrication for the clay to easily glide over the paint's surface.

    3. Kneed the clay before going onto another area. Also make sure you have a clean side of clay to come into contact with the paint's surface.

    4. Make sure that the area is clean before moving on. Claying takes a little bit of time at first, so make sure you do a thorough job so that you'll realize the full potential of the surface. Nothing feels quite like freshly clayed paint!

I would suggest purchasing a clay kit such as Meguiar's Quick Clay or Smooth Surface Kit. Both come with clay and the quick detail spray that you'll need. The Smooth Surface Kit also includes a Supreme Shine microfiber and some cleaner wax as added bonuses.
