  • How to remove tint ?

Sorry, this post is not related to detailing but maybe some of you have experience in this.

My friend has to return his car to the dealer after a 3-year lease.
He was asked to remove the tint. Otherwise, he would be charged $200 CAN.

Any suggestion how to remove the tint (film)?

be careful with the defrost lines on the back, you might take them off along with the tint and you'll have a bigger problem

Here is a way that works, a little crude but it works and its fast with no dammage to the defroster lines.

Spray the window with water, stick a trash bag to the glass to hold the water between the tint and the bag. Let it sit a little whaile to soften the adhesive. Next pull up a corner of the tint and peel off the film. Now get a terry cloth towel and some brake fluid. Put some brake fluid on th etowel and rub it onto the adhesive. Let it set a min or 2 and agitae again with the rag....adhesive should be gone. Wipe with a clean dry towel and then clean with glass cleaner.
If you dont play you CANT win!

        be VERY careful!!!!

make sure the brake fluid won't touch your cars paint.
if it does, quickly hose of with a lot of water.if you don't,the brake fluid will eat his way THROUGH the paint, leaving a blank metall spot.
so be very careful with that!!!!!!

otherwise it will cost a bit more than $ 200.

        ciao,

        Rick

Actually, there is no tint on the rear windows, only on the 4 side windows.

I read the www.tintdude.com and it looks complicated.
