  • m07 on top of m26

ok, so i cleaned my ride up this saturday, but realized i wouldnt have enough time to do all that i wanted to, so i skipped a step, the polish..

i used nxt wash, then i clayed, then washed again, then i used m80, and after that i wanted to use m07, but wouldnt have had time to wax, so i used m26 right after the m80, the metallic paint still looked amazing, but now im wondering if i can just go back, use some m07 on top of the m26, then try some gold class wax, and finally top it with m26 again...

    is that ok?

    thanks..

Meguiar's recommended order of steps is to apply any polish to the paint before applying wax. Wax seals the surface and makes it more difficult for the polish to penetrate into the paint. A coating of wax, (or any paint protectant by any other name), can also make a pure polish more difficult to work with and wipe-off depending upon your skill level.

It's physically possible to apply an application of M07 to the paint even though you've waxed it, it's just not our recommended procedure and you may find it a tad more difficult than had you done this after the M80 step.

If you do proceed to apply the M07 at this point, please do come back and tell us what you experienced as we know other's have this question also.

    Thanks!

will do, i wouldnt want to use a cleaner to remove the wax , then start all over on the car, its a black 06 magmum, so theres a lot of body to cover, and takes me a while longer than my previous smaller car..

You say that you skipped the polish step but then you mention that you used 80, which is a cleaner/polish. All you really skipped was the application of 7, which is a pure polish. This explains why after using 26 everything looked so good!

Of the three products, 80,7 and 26, I think you were very wise to have skipped 7 instead of either of the others. Sure, it's a serious "beauty" product, but I don't see it as being a real neccessary step in the detail process for a daily driver. If you show this car from time to time, or go to car club events and like to show off a bit (who doesn't!!) then adding 7 to the mix is a great idea.

#7 and #80 also feature the same base as a polish. I have seen #7 make a big difference on top of #82 and #83, but #80 seems to glow just as much as #7 (or damn close to it).

lets say though, i wanted to use some gold class now, throw it right on top of the m26, then m26 back on top of the gold class?

i just have fun waxing my car, lol its so relaxing for me, and i enjoy doing it, lol

I don't think you'll see any huge benefit from putting GC on top of 26 or the other way around, but you sure won't hurt anything either. Heck, if you have that much fun waxing your car why not try 26 over GC on half the hood and GC over 26 on the other half and see if you notice anything. I doubt you will, but you'll have fun with the experiment and at zero risk of any damage.

I think a big reason that it is recommended to apply a wax over 7 is because 7 doesn't have a very long lifespan and the wax helps to lock it in to a degree.
