    thx

I've never removed one before, I can take a look and see if I can figure out how it comes apart later today when I'm out in the garage.

I have the same problem with you..

I got g104 one week ago, and use it for the first time today.. While i was polishing the bonnet the first battery died

After changing the battery, i continued but this time the backing plate started to get looser and looser then machine began rattling while i was polishing the doors now nothing can be done with it...

Is there something i can do to fix it? Or is the best choice is sending it back?

        thanx...

I have sent the link to this thread to Customer Care, they're going to look into this and see what they can find out.

            thanks...

it really gets me embarressed, because i've been using meguiars products and services for a long time in Turkey (the products are all so good ) ... At last decided to order g104 and products to do something on my own.. I really waited it as a birthday gift of a child

While we're looking into this, I have mine in my hand and it definitely doesn't look like this tool is designed to be disassembled or serviced by the consumer.

The Velcro backing plate does not appear to be threaded on like the backing plate on our G100 unit, at least not that I can tell.

The next option is to split the case open and that's what leads us to say that the tool isn't designed to be disassembled or serviced by the customer.

The same product is sold under the Simoniz brand in Canada at Canadian tire. I have one, and I'll check the manual I have to see if there is a schematic for it. I think there is a blow-up picture of it.

                  Thank you all

                  I fixed it

I've seen two screws from the hole on the backing plate.... If you look at the backside of backing plate from the hole under sunlight, or by the help of a lamp you can see easily..

I screw them off from the hole, and the backing plate comes off easily

There is another two screws seen which assemble motor.. That screws make the backing plate loose.. I screw them off and glue them with loctite and screw down them...

The most difficult part is to screw down the screws which can be seen from the hole... I settled the screws with tape to the holes.. Then it's easy to screw down them from hole on the backing plate...

This repairement only takes 30 minutes and orbital buffer works properly

If someone needs help about the loose backing plate, I can send the photos during the repairement...

                  Thanks again

                  Devrim...

Here's how you can locate the screws from the hole on the backing plate. There are 2 screws altogether. If you look at the backing plate with the machine vertical, the screws are located at 4 and 8 o'clock off the center of the plate.

In order to easily remove the screws, you have to align it with the hole by placing the counter weight just beside the screw... (see photo.. the counter weight is below the screw)

To assemble, place the scews in the hole of the bracket and have one screwdriver already on the head of one screw to guide it. Once one screw is in the proper place, the other will "automatically" fall in place. Use the guide above to locate and screw them tight.

                    Hope this helps...

Glad to be of any help...

BTW, while surfing the internet, saw this website selling WEN products. It has the cordless buffer too and you can buy spare batteries from there... I wouldn't recommend buying the buffer from there as the backing plate is 4" ..... and doesn't have the Meguiar's Logo on it...

After claying the car, i use dual action cleaner polish 83 and after that synthetic sealent 21, but the batteries doesn't give permission to finish all of the car One day i finish one part and second day the other part.

My new project is to make g104 to work from the lighter. A friend of mine will make an adapter to change 12v to 4.8v and connect the cable to g104.

I think we will finish it in this week, after finishing it, i will write if it's working or not.
