  • #83 on 8006 w/DA then cleaner wax on 8006 with DA...

Am I missing a step in here, or even using the cleaner wax wrong?

I did my mother in law's car this weekend, with DACP on 8006 with DA, and then cleaner wax (consumer line, liquid) on 8006 with DA... It actually came out pretty good, but I'm wondering, is going from Cleaner/Polish and then applying cleaner/wax a good or bad idea? It came out good, but I've had other combos come out better...

Seems I have more than myself stumped

I mean, it doesn't LOOK bad, I'm just wondering if this is the best idea.

Well, it is a bit of a tricky question...

In one sense, you process went clean/polish, then clean/polish/wax, which is a bit out of order.

But, much like using #80 after #83, you went to a milder cleaner, which probably cleaned up a few of the imperfections left by #83.

Also, the regular Cleaner/Wax leaves a good finish, but not the best wax/polish Meguiars makes. I like to top a cleaner/wax whenever I use one to help with that, and get the 2 coats of wax Meguiars reomends.

And the Cleaner/Wax probably wouldnt have been strong enough to really get at any defects, since you needed #83.

So, all in all, you did ok. Its just kind of a mixed bag, doing a quick detail to clean things up that you probably wont get the best looks out of.

quick detail indeed! or tried to make it quick, yet doing the best job possible.

I had a t short and shorts on and I was STILL sweating at the waistline! Maybe next time i'll go with some #9 after the 83 before the wax, or try topping with some 26 or NXT.

You might want to keep some #66 around for use with family...

Its a pretty good cleaner/wax, somewhere around #80, not quite #83 as far as cleaning ability goes, so you could fix some problems and wax in one step.

And lots of product for low price...
