I have Painted Mustang rims. Im not sure if their clear coated or what. But what would be a good percripton to get them to shine the best i can. The rims are in good shape. I used scratch x, then color X, then NXT wax. And they look good. But i want them to shine and stand out more. WHat do you guys use for your rims? WHat would be a good setup for me to use to get them to look the best they possibly can?

They sure look like painted rims to me, do they have some metallic in the paint? On my SVT rims (same color as yours) I put a couple coats of NXT on them, works great and brings the metallic out, I am told that the NXT will hold up better in the heat produced by the brakes.Last edited by gb387; Jun 16, 2004, 06:16 AM.Brandon

Actually Ford does paint a lot of their aluminum rims. The 15" aluminum rims on my Contour SE Sport were painted. Even the 16" E0 SVT Contour aluminum rims that I upgraded to where painted. The premium package Bullitt rims on my Mustang GT are painted except for the lip which is machined. I think the trend now is to offer wheels with multiple finishes starting at the low cost end with just painting, then moving up to polished and finally chromed. Ford seems to offer all three these days. Looking back though I recall that a lot of the Mustang rims in the past were painted.Last edited by rjstaaf; Jun 16, 2004, 07:15 AM.
